 Ministries - Youth Ministry PROTAS  Our youth ministry is called "Protas," Greek for "First Things." In order to make the most of our resources and to foster communication and cooperation among churches that are faithful to Scripture, Alexandria Bible Church has combined with several other churches to form a youth group, Protas, that is headquartered at Alexandria Presbyterian Church. The goal of Protas is to provide an environment for teens to grow in their Christian lives. On Sunday nights the teens meet together for a time of fellowship, fun, and instruction from God's Word. Overseen by adult mentors and parents, the teens are taught not only how to grow but also how to help others grow in Christ. Through Protas, the teens have opportunities to serve and to be involved in community service projects. They also have opportunities to reach their lost or unchurched friends by inviting them to events like skiiing, paintball, and other regular fun activities. The teens meet weekly on Sunday nights at Alexandria Presbyterian Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. (the schedule changes during the summer) and during the week in smaller discipleship groups divided by age and gender. Each summer they serve on a missions team in the U.S. or overseas. |
